In the spirit of the Christmas season and community service, the former Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government and Member of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Hon. Funmilayo Olasehinde, has distributed cash gifts and food items to 340 beneficiaries across four wards in Ora-igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State.
The empowerment and welfare outreach, which cut across four wards in the local government, was aimed at supporting vulnerable residents and spreading goodwill during the festive period. Speaking at the event, Hon. Olasehinde disclosed that the funds and materials distributed were jointly contributed by councillors and Executive Assistants within the local council.
She explained that the initiative was also designed to instill the culture of giving back to society among public office holders and political appointees, emphasizing that leadership comes with responsibility to the people.
Hon. Olasehinde urged beneficiaries to continue to pray for the contributors and encouraged those who were not reached in the current phase to remain patient, assuring them of future programs.
“Today’s program is just one of many interventions we plan to carry out. A total of 340 people are benefiting today, and others will also be considered in subsequent programs,” she said.
The event featured prayers led by Prophet Mathew Afolayan, who prayed for God’s continued blessings and protection over Hon. Funmilayo Olasehinde. He also offered prayers for the success of the APC and AMBO in the forthcoming 2026 governorship election, as well as for the safe return of the kidnapped victim in Ora-Igbomina.
Additionally, prayers were said for peace and security in Ora-Igbomina and the entire Ifedayo Local Government Area.
The outreach was widely commended by community members, who described it as timely and impactful, especially during the Christmas season when many families face economic challenges.
