An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Osun State, Ayodeji Olaiya, popularly known as Ayonic, has congratulated Nigerians on the successful completion of the year 2025, describing it as a period marked by resilience, collective sacrifice and renewed national hope.
He said the dawn of 2026 comes with strong prospects for stability, growth, and improved governance across the country.
In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, Olaiya noted that despite economic and social challenges encountered in the outgoing year, Nigerians remained steadfast and optimistic, demonstrating faith in the nation’s democratic institutions.
The APC chieftain also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating far-reaching tax reforms, which he described as bold, strategic, and critical to Nigeria’s long-term economic stability.
He said the reforms reflect a deliberate effort to reposition the economy on a sustainable footing through improved revenue generation and fiscal discipline.
According to him, the tax reform initiatives would, in the long run, expand the tax base, promote fairness, encourage compliance, and reduce overreliance on borrowing.
He added that the reforms would empower government to invest more effectively in infrastructure, education, healthcare and social welfare programmes.
Speaking on the political direction of Osun State, Olaiya urged citizens and residents to support the candidature of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election.
He described Oyebamiji as a seasoned administrator with the capacity to deliver people-oriented governance and sustain progressive ideals in the state.
The aspirant for the Osogbo State Constituency seat in the Osun State House of Assembly said the 2026 governorship election presents Osun with a defining opportunity to embrace competent leadership and consolidate development.
Olaiya called on party members and the electorate to unite behind AMBO in the interest of continuity, stability, and economic growth.
“I congratulate all Nigerians on the successful completion of 2025. It was a year that tested our resilience as a people, but we remained hopeful and united. As we step into 2026, I am confident it will bring renewed optimism, economic improvement, and greater national stability.”
