Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about how the tragic passing of his close friend and collaborator, Mohbad, deeply affected him, prompting a major shift in his outlook on life.
During a recent TikTok livestream with content creator Joblaq, Bella Shmurda revealed that Mohbad’s death marked a turning point for him, pushing him into a period of self-reflection and personal rediscovery.
“Rest in peace, Mohbad. After he passed, it was like my brain reset — everything changed,” he said. “The way I view life is completely different now.”
He likened his experience to a familiar warning often given by parents: “There’s a saying our parents use when we misbehave — ‘You’ll understand when the time comes.’ I think I’ve reached that point. Now, I understand. Life has shown me things I didn’t see before.”
Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances, was not only a collaborator but also a close companion to Bella Shmurda. His death has continued to spark conversations about the pressures faced by young artists in the Nigerian music industry.
