Singer Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his involvement in a fraud scheme valued at approximately $1 million.
Kingston, born Kisean Paul Anderson, was convicted in March alongside his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, on multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Turner received a five-year prison sentence in July.
According to prosecutors, Kingston used his celebrity profile to acquire high-end goods—such as a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, luxury watches, and a 19-foot LED television—without payment. Authorities say he submitted fraudulent wire transfer documentation and promised social media promotion in exchange for the merchandise.
During the sentencing hearing in South Florida, U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz ordered Kingston into immediate custody, denying a request from his legal team to delay incarceration due to health concerns. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Anton characterized Kingston as someone who “used fame as a tool to deceive,” while defense attorney Zeljka Bozanic argued the 35-year-old lacked financial maturity and had begun making restitution.
Kingston and his mother were arrested in May 2024 following a SWAT operation at his rented Fort Lauderdale residence.
Kingston, who was born in Florida and raised in Jamaica, gained international fame at age 17 with his 2007 debut single Beautiful Girls.
