The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the composition of its National Campaign Council and various sub-committees ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
According to a notice signed by the party's National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the council will be chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors' Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Other top party leaders named as co-chairmen include the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni; President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has been appointed Secretary of the council.
The APC said the campaign council comprises governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, and other party stakeholders drawn from across the country to spearhead its campaign for victory in the forthcoming governorship poll.
To strengthen coordination and ensure effective implementation of campaign activities, the party also constituted specialised sub-committees covering election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots mobilisation, logistics and campaign management, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women's mobilisation, mobilisation of persons with disabilities, and secretariat functions.
The inauguration of the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja, beginning at 12 noon.
