The National President of the Abaku Youth Forum, Comrade Yakub Adekunle Sikiru, has dissociated the Forum and the entire Abaku family from a report published by CivicLens News on August 7, 2026, which claimed that the Abaku Youth Forum had rallied behind the APC candidates, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) and Barrister Kunle Adegoke (KRAD).
The National President described the report as misleading and unauthorized, stressing that the Abaku Youth Forum has not issued any official resolution, communiqué or mandate endorsing the APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
According to Comrade Yakub Adekunle Sikiru, the individual identified in the report as Mr. Taofeek Oyetunji, who allegedly presented himself as the President of the Abaku Youth Forum, does not have the authority to speak on behalf of the Forum or the Abaku family.
“We are seriously concerned about the attempt to use the name of Abaku and that of our youths for political purposes without authorization. The Abaku Youth Forum has its recognized leadership structure, and nobody has the right to impersonate the National President or issue statements on behalf of the Forum without due authorization.”
The National President further stated that the Forum would not allow its name, identity and reputation to be used as a political bargaining instrument. He emphasized that any individual who has a personal political preference is free to express it in his personal capacity, but such preference must not be presented as the collective position of the Abaku Youth Forum or the entire Abaku family.
Comrade Sikiru therefore called on members of the public, political actors and the media to disregard the reported endorsement attributed to the Abaku Youth Forum, describing it as unauthorized and not representative of the official position of the Forum.
He also appealed to the media aide to Barrister Kunle Adegoke (KRAD), Abdullahi Maruf Hassan, to exercise restraint and urgently dissociate himself and his principal from any attempt to exploit the identity of the Abaku Youth Forum for political advantage.
The National President said the Forum particularly condemns any attempt to create division or confusion among youths in the Abaku and Owo Ope areas of Ayetoro, Osogbo, through unauthorized political declarations.
He added that the leadership of the Abaku Youth Forum reserves the right to pursue appropriate legal remedies against any person found to have deliberately impersonated its leadership or falsely represented its official position.
Comrade Yakub Adekunle Sikiru reaffirmed that the Abaku Youth Forum remains committed to peace, unity, responsible youth participation and the protection of the integrity and good name of the Abaku family.
Signed:
