As part of many efforts to put the entrepreneur in that State on the part of prosperity and to ensure they achieve successes in their various businesses, the Governor of the State of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola has provided useful guides to a cross section of entrepreneur in the State.
The Osun State Governor gave this insights at the inaugural seed-fund disbursement ceremony organised by UniOsun for its Alumni as part of the initiative of the University to ensure that their graduates are not only gainfully employed but also become employer of labour.
Oyetola who was represented at the programme by his Special Adviser and Chief Executive Officer of Osun State Investment Promotion Agency, Prince Femi Adeniran advocated for personal and business branding as an anecdote for successful entrepreneurship sojourn.
The ceremony which is first of its kind in any higher institutions in Nigeria had in attendance the Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Prof Labo Popoola and other Principal Officers of the University; the beneficiaries which were sixteen (16) in numbers and each went home with the sum of Two Hundred Thousands Naira Only; and staff and students of the University. This Start-Up Scheme was established by the Prof. Labo Popoola led Management of the University for the Alumni of the institution to help them in financing their business ideas in order to create jobs and wealth.
Adeniran charged the young and start-up entrepreneurs that branding is the only part of the business that cannot be directly valued, and according to him, “branding is very difficult to negotiate because it is the only premium equity on the business products and services”.
He further emphasized extensively on the understanding that business branding goes beyond the label but it involve experience and reputation. He advised young and start-up entrepreneurs to guide their branding jealously, carefully and cautiously. He is of the opinion that the biggest and one of the most important things for entrepreneurs is the grooming of their branding and reputation. He ended his speech by encouraging the beneficiaries of the Start-Up Scheme to make sure that they always leave reputable digital, financial and physical footprint as these are important in building a successful brand.
The State's investment promotion agency boss shared the platform with the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Tunde Olatunji; and Zonal Manager of Jaiz Bank, Mr. Taofeek Mustafa. They talked on Becoming A Successful Entrepreneurs and How to Manage Fund, respectively.
