Democracy Day: Dr. Amb. Adebayo John Alfonso Congratulates Nigerians, Urges Support for President Tinubu's Developmental Strides

In commemoration of the 2025 Democracy Day celebration, the Chairman of Alfonso Group of Companies and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Switzerland Chapter, Dr. Ambassador Adebayo John Alfonso, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to all Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora.

Dr. Alfonso described June 12 as a symbolic date etched into Nigeria’s national consciousness, marking the triumph of the people’s will over military dictatorship. He praised the sacrifices of the nation's democratic heroes—past and present—who relentlessly fought for the restoration and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

In a statement released from Switzerland, Dr. Alfonso reflected on the significance of the day:

“Democracy Day is not just a date on our national calendar—it is a tribute to the resilience, courage, and unwavering spirit of the Nigerian people. It reminds us of the painful but necessary sacrifices made by our forebears in pursuit of liberty, civil rights, and inclusive governance. Today, we honor those sacrifices and reaffirm our collective commitment to democratic principles.”

While acknowledging the progress that has been made, Dr. Alfonso emphasized the importance of unity, patriotism, and active citizen participation in nation-building. He commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as “bold, visionary, and people-centered reforms” aimed at transforming Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.

“President Tinubu’s administration is laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and national renewal,” he stated. “From critical infrastructure projects to policy reforms in the energy, transportation, and technology sectors, we are witnessing a new era of purposeful leadership. I urge all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation or background, to support these giant strides toward a better Nigeria.”

Dr. Alfonso also called on members of the Nigerian diaspora to remain engaged and contribute meaningfully to the nation's progress. He reaffirmed his commitment, both as a business leader and political figure, to continue advocating for stronger ties between Nigerians abroad and the development agenda back home.

As Nigeria marks this year’s Democracy Day, Dr. Alfonso encouraged reflection, participation, and renewed hope, concluding with an appeal for peace, unity, and a deepened democratic culture across the federation.
