I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of my in-law, Alhaji Fatai Oyedele Diekola (Jagun Aso), an illustrious son of Osogbo and a thoroughbred politician, who lived a life of impact and purpose at 69.
Jagun Aso as fondly called was a leader who consistently put Osogbo first. As Chairman of Osogbo Local Government and later as Chairman, Osun State Board for Vocational and Technical Education, he distinguished himself through selfless service, people-oriented leadership and an unwavering belief in empowering others, especially through mentorship and facilitation of lofty ideas for the progress of his community.
He understood that true development is about investing in people particularly the younger generation, an ideal he pursued with passion, humility and integrity. His contributions to the growth of Osogbo and Osun State will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to speak in the lives he touched and the paths he helped to shape.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, friends and the good people of Osogbo.
May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
Rest on, Jagun Aso. Your service, sacrifices and love for Osogbo will always be remembered.
